The Navigators took a 2-0 lead in the first inning and then expanded it to 5-1 through the early innings behind Fletcher, who looked strong. The Knights' Baker got the start and went 3 innings before leaving in favor of Synder. In the fifth, the Knights were able to fight back with a couple of runs to make it 5-3. An inning later, three more gave them a 6-5 lead. In the top of the eighth with 2 outs and 2 runners on for the Navigators, De Los Santos came on to pitch for the Knights and he induced a pop-up to shallow right, but the ball found the grass and the game was tied at 6-6 in the top of the eighth. In the bottom of the inning Fletcher got two quick outs before he walked Bonnet. An infield hit by Kleimann brought up Leonard with two on and two out. Leonard smacked the ball to the first baseman who knocked it down but was unable to beat Leonard to the bag. Bonnet, running with two outs and a full count, scored on the play and the Knights won 7-6 as time expired before the ninth could be played.
The Knights prevailed in a close game with the Crystal City Restaurant Navigators, 5-3. The Knights' Ralph Hernandez and the Navigators' Fletcher were superb from the mound and the game was tied 1-1 for the first few innings. In the fifth, the Knights got an infield hit, another, and then a 2 RBI double by Tommy McEvoy to take a 3-1 lead. In the next inning, a 2 run homer by Dan Kunze got the Knights ahead, 5-1. Ralph Hernandez held the Navigators to one run through 7 innings, and Ron Baker came on in the eighth and allowed nothing in that inning. In the ninth the Navigators began a strong comeback, scoring two and getting another baserunner to bring the tying run to the plate. It was not good enough as the Knights turned Navigator aggression back as the game ended on a 'caught stealing' at second.

Humans and hounds, please join the Knights this Saturday morning for frolic, food, and a waggin' good time! The Knights take on the Vipers for a Saturday morning double header at South Run Park in Springfield, VA. Game times are 9:00 and 11:30AM.
Home is where the "bark" is!
The Knights open their 2012 summer season with a 5-4 win over the Senators Baseball Club. Snyder started on the hill by striking out the side in the first. His outing was cut a bit short by a 30 minute delay when the lights cut off in the fourth. T McEvoy pitched 3 strong innings in relief, striking out 4. Vlady closed out the seventh to pickup the save. The defese looked solid with R Adams & Leonard flipping two double plays up the middle.
Welcome to the Knights Kunze & Schaffer! Schaffer roped a double into the left field corner as part of our 4 hit, 4 run fourth inning. Kunze added 2 doubles of his own to earn himself the first 2012 Knights player of the game.
In a way to help give back to kids and players around the world, we are collecting any and all baseball equipment that anyone might have laying around and not using anymore. Such as old bats, gloves, balls, helmets, catcher equipment, batting gloves, basically anything you can spare that is in working order for other kids or adults to use. One of the Knights players has asked for some help in gathering gear to send home to some guys in the Dominican so that they can enjoy baseball just as we do. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
If you have anything and can bring it to Tuesday's practice that would be awesome. If you can't make it Tuesday please contact us and we will arrange for a pickup.
Thanks!
The Knights will hold their first fall 2011 practice next Tuesday at 7PM at West Potomac High School. This will also serve as a tryout for new players going into the fall season. If anyone is interested please contact us and let us know your coming out. We are continuing to build a talented roster and are looking for highly skilled players at every position.
The fall season is just around the corner. A managers meeting will take place next Saturday and the Knights will look to begin playing ball immediately.
The Knights finished up their regular season with an 11-13-1 record. The first round of the playoffs matched the (5)Knights up against the (4)Cardinals. The Knights took the first two games to sweep the Cardinals and move on to the second round. In the second round the Knights faced a very tough (1)Sneaky Weasels team. The Weasels took the series from the Knights and went on to the championship series against the (2)Alexandria A's, to create a repeat of last years championship series. In the championship, the Weasels took down the defending A's to win the DC Wood 2011 AAA Championship.
A great season all around. Final stats and team leaders for the summer 2011 season will be announced shortly.
The Knights will look to continue to improve and bring in more talented players for the fall 2011. If you or anyone you know is interested in playing competitive wood bat baseball, please contact us.
